The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) presents a compelling incentive program geared towards fostering the integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology atop parking lots equipped with electric vehicle (EV) chargers. Under this initiative, eligible projects entail the installation of a minimum of 75 kW of solar panels mounted on canopy structures positioned over parking areas, complemented by a minimum of four certified Level II or Level III EV chargers.
The program offers substantial grants amounting to up to $600 per kilowatt (kW) of PV capacity installed, with a project ceiling set at $300,000. Notably, a dedicated fund of $1.6 million has been earmarked for the fiscal year 2021 to support these endeavors.
For a project to qualify, it must be situated within a Maryland parking lot accessible for utilization at least five days per week. Additionally, systems are required to be net-metered to ensure efficient energy management.
