Equipment Requirements Heat Pumps

Cold Climate Ducted Air Source Heat Pump: HSPF ≥9.0/SEER ≥15.0/COP ≥ 1.75@5◦F or capacity @ 5◦F of at least 70% of BTU @ 47◦F. Must be NEEP.org certified.

Cold Climate Ductless Air Source Heat Pump: HSPF ≥10.0/SEER ≥15.0/COP ≥ 1.75@5◦F or capacity @ 5◦F of at least 70% of BTU @ 47◦F . Must be NEEP.org certified.

Ground Source Heat Pump: 5.5 tons or smaller, 14.1 EER. Must be ENERGY STAR certified

Other Incentives

Non-Cold Climate Ducted Air Source Heat Pump: HSPF ≥8.5/SEER ≥15.0

Non-Cold Climate Ductless Air Source Heat Pump: HSPF ≥8.5/SEER ≥15.0

Heat Pump Water Heater: Must be Energy Star certified with a minimum Energy Factor of 2.0

Attic Insulation with Air Sealing: R-49 minimum required

Wall Insulation: R-19 minimum; fill wall cavity where R-19 is not possible. For solid walls such as brick or concrete, exterior rigid insulation must be added to a level of ≥ R-10.

Foundation Insulation and Air Sealing: Crawlspace as outlined in the 2012 IECC. R-15 continuous or R-19 cavity insulation with a vapor-permeable air barrier over insulation. Crawlspaces must have sealed vapor barrier over dirt crawl space floor and ventilation, per 2012 IECC.

Summary

EnergySmart for Boulder County helps residents identify, finance, and schedule energy improvements in their homes. This “One Stop Shop” aims to reduce the hassles and hurdles associated with improving a home’s energy efficiency by providing an energy advisor to each participant at no cost. The advisor serves as a guide and advocate by scheduling a home energy assessment, installing free energy conservation materials, identifying and applying for all applicable incentives, and coordinating work through an approved list of contractors.

Homeowners can receive rebates through EnergySmart on selected efficiency improvements. EnergySmart rebates can be combined with local utility rebates. Multi-Family Units of five or more are not eligible.
